SPAIN & PORTUGAL
September 10-18, 2023

Spain is very diverse and we have created a vacation that highlights the southern part of the country, with visits to the many Moor-inspired historical and archaeological wonders that make this area so magnificent.  The Moors arrived in Spain from North Africa and ruled parts of the Iberian Peninsula from 711 AD until the fall of Granada in 1492.  Their more than 700 years of Islamic dominance left a rich legacy of architecture and culture throughout Spain, and most markedly in the southern region.

Seville is known for its fascinating history, amazing food and stunning architecture.   You will enjoy the Seville Cathedral, the world's largest Gothic church, the Royal Alcázar of Seville and The Alhambra and explore Granada, Cordoba and Carmona.  Marvel at the beauty of Seville from a boat trip on the Guadalquivir River and enjoy a sensuous massage at AIRE Ancient Baths with over 500 years of Mudejar history.

Lisbon, Portugal combines the best elements of Portuguese life, offering fantastic architecture, a multicultural population, delicious seafood and non-stop nightlife.  The city also touts a significant African history which you will explore with a Togolese historian.  Our Portuguese sojourn culminates with a Sunset Sailing Cruise on the River Tagus.
