NEW YEAR'S EVE IN BANGKOK!

December 29, 2021 - January 7, 2022

Thailand is one of the world’s most renowned holiday destinations, with a wide variety of things to see and do, including culture, religion, food, nature, water, adventure, sports and myriad relaxing activities. There are thousands of temples and cultural centers promoting the unique Thai culture, as well as Royal Thai palaces to witness. Food plays an integral role in the Thai way of life, and with Thai cuisine growing in popularity worldwide, authentic Thai food from the streets or in fine dining restaurants will certainly not disappoint anyone.

As the most visited city in the world, Bangkok is the perfect place to ring in the new year.  We will celebrate at a fun rooftop restaurant where we can enjoy a beautiful view of the city and the fireworks.  Thailand, which translates to “land of the free,” was originally known as Siam and is one of the world’s favorite countries.  Buddha figures are ever-present in the “land of smiles,” where bustling, modern cities are juxtaposed with ancient ruins, glistening beaches and gilded temples. The nation is home to the acclaimed Thai massage and cuisine that is known to balance sweet, sour, salty, bitter and spicy flavors.  Our visit to Thailand will include all of this and more!

This morning we will take a day trip to Ayutthaya,  Thailand's hidden archaeo-logical gem, brimming with Buddhist temples, monas-teries and ancient statues of monumental proportions. Dating back to 1350, the city is a UNESCO World Heritage city.  We will return to Bangkok for our NYE celebration!

Friday, 1/1

Saturday, 1/2

Catch a morning flight to Chiang Rai.  After check-in  we will visit Wat Rong Khun, better known as the White Temple, a Buddhist temple that looks like it was placed on earth by a god. We then continue on to the equally beautiful Blue Temple.  Dinner tonight will be riverside where the view is magnificent.

Sunday, 1/3

Today we'll visit the Golden Triangle where Thailand, Laos and Myanmar meet.  The

Monday, 1/4

A comfortable air-conditioned bus ride will bring us to Chiang Mai.  After lunch we will visit the Doi Suthep Temple for an optional monk's blessing, then on to Wat Srisuphan, a temple covered in silver and other sites in the area.  Dinner tonight will be at the House of Ginger.  End the evening at the Chiang Mai Night Bazaar, where you can test your negotiating skills.

Tuesday, 1/5

Today we will visit an ethical and sustainable elephant sanctuary where we'll feed, bathe and play with the magnificent mammals, while learning why it is so important to protect them.   The visit will be topped off with making paper from elephant dung!  What an experience!  After a fun-filled day, we will relax at the hotel then enjoy dinner, to close out the day.
